Yin / Yang

Yin/Yang offers the benefits of a practice that invites the exploration of inner and outer balance. Each class is unique in its delivery of Yin and Yang styles of yoga, with every class offering the quality and benefits of both. Yin offers long-held passive poses, opening the body to more flexibility and movement of energy through the body’s channels. Yang offers activated movement, creating more heat and invigoration through dynamic poses and sequences. Both practices support a meditative and balanced quality of body and mind.

Yin

Yin class done in low lighted room with candles (except on monday). In our Yin classes you will experience primarily postures done on the floor or against the wall with supportive blocks, blankets, and bolsters. Poses are held for a longer period of time allowing you to stretch connective tissue. You can experience a bit of guided meditation weaved into the class. Expect to leave feeling balanced, connected, and whole.

Hatha

This class is relatively gentle, slow and great for beginners or students who prefer a more relaxed style where they hold poses longer. This is an alignment-oriented practice that emphasizes the forms and actions within yoga postures. Traditional postures are held in accurate alignment. This class is based on postures, deep breathing, mindfulness and listening to the body. Hatha yoga is the yoga of activity, and as “sun” (ha) and “moon” (tha), the yoga of balance. Hatha practices are designed to align and calm your body, mind, and spirit in preparation for meditation.

Restorative Yoga Nidra

Yoga Nidra (yogic sleep) is a powerful practice of guided relaxation that offers great healing potential for the body, mind and spirit. First, prepare the physical body through pranayama (conscious breathing exercises) and a few yin postures to ground and create inner awareness. Once the body is ready for rest, experience a 40-minute meditation while lying in savasana. Explore this opportunity to exist between wake and slumber — where all things are possible. Bring any additional items you might want (eye pillow, layers, socks, etc.) to help create a comfortable and safe space for you to practice with ease and go deep within.
